Adopting someone of a different race can get complicated. I personally believe having a family is more important than the colour of someones skin but it definitely comes with it's disadvantages. Not to mention that there are probably more white foster parents than other races of foster parents means that a non-white child would end up being raised by someone of a different race anyways. But yeah, you have to explain it and over and over and people think they can judge more often.
As a single male you'd probably end up getting judged a lot more, yes, which sucks. But you would also probably have a much better opportunity to get an older child than an infant anyways. I think as far as having a kid goes I wouldn't care if it was a boy or a girl, or at least I would probably want one of each really. I do believe if someone really has their heart set on a girl than it's detrimental to the child to have to 'settle' for a boy.
Although I'd be totally pro older child adoption I do realize that people need to know their limits, it's not good for anyone if somebody tries to adopt an older kid and they aren't prepared for the reality of it, I just wish people would also understand that just because a kids older doesn't make them damaged and at least be open to adopting outside of infant/toddler age.
Sorry I was so agressive about everything I just get really passionate about this type of topic.
