America has historically championed the oppressed.

Yeah, right.






America has championed the oppressed when it already matched pre-existing interests; and made a lot of those instances to make forget the more times when it championed the oppressor.

Admittedly, it has had a weird relationship with British Isles oppression - IRA operatives lived openly and were left alone in New York and Boston. Irish Catholic voting blocs are more important than Orange voting blocs.
