Human relationships are not really meant to be exclusive and if they are they are not meant to last long, though they can.

This was the only part of your post I objected to. I don't think you can really say human relationships are meant (or not meant) to be one thing or the other. This assumes there is some sort of ideal or predestined type of relationship. I just think human behavior is much too varied for that. Long-term--even lifetime--relationships work very well for a lot of people, and for many others they don't work so well. But we shouldn't project our own experiences or feelings onto others.
