It's one thing to assume a risk to yourself, but another to impose that risk on a girl you claim to love.

If any relationship between the two of you is discovered, your fate is sealed. But for her? They will make her hate you. They will convince her you are evil, that you hurt her and and are being justly punished. They will make her feel like a victim. Would that not 'negate your love'?
