Attraction to disability?

Apparently it's more common than I would've thought. I am watching The Late, Late Show with Craig Ferguson and someone on the show mentioned how some people are attracted to amputees. Aside from curiosity springing from my own congenital birth defect, I was also curious about whether people were attracted to the mentally impaired, as I saw that as somewhat analogous to our plight. And yes, there are those who are turn on by the mentally challenged. But as I was reading the Wikipedia page on attraction to disability ⚠️ ↗, something jumped out at me that I thought would interest you all:

Well over half of DPWs have felt this pathological attraction since childhood, as typical in paraphilias. The Amelotatist (see References) found that 75 per cent of its sample of 195 were aware of the attraction by age 15. Those attracted often cherish early memories of a sexuoerotic tragedy (a "first sighting") involving an object of their future attention, often an older member of the opposite sex, as stereotypical in paraphilic etiology. About a quarter report discovering the paraphilia in puberty, and a few in maturity.

Did you catch that? Most of these people report being attracted to the disabled since childhood. Soooo . . . where do I meet one of these kids? ;-) Anyway, I can't believe I am only now becoming aware of this community. Odd.
