When you said, My joints still ache, and my neck feels like I'm in my late 60s I immediately thought of meningitis. (Wiki link below but it's graphic.) What causes me to wonder, if this herd of doctors were interested in you because they did not know what it was, why was no LP done? You certainly would have written about that! An LP is a lumbar puncture and would have confirmed. If your problem was aseptic (no bacterial or viral issues) and there is no pharmacological cause, I would ask you about migraines.
