Generally we discourage people from making posts that are merely a link with a "check this out" comment.

See FAQ 15; Furthermore, since we are not a picture or video trading site, the link should be illustrative of a post, not the point of the post.

Now I'll admit to sharing links to articles and using internal links to pictures. However, my general rule of thumb is to ask how the post would look if a Mod removed the link. If it holds up as readable with the link removed ( or in the case of a hotlink; deactivated ) it should be OK provided that the link doesn't violate any other GC rules.
