It also has way more guns, and the states where gun ownership is most valued (the Southern states) also has the highest rates of gun violence, but we've been over this before.
This is another variable that I am sure Markaba would not use; but which would be just as justifiable to use.
You'd be wrong. I'm including all violence, and even so, it has still decreased steadily over the decades overall, as Pinker amply shows.
The USA has more violent crime than all the other rich countries; yet it would be a lie to say it has less women rights. Britain (and the rest of Anglo countries) has more violent crime than the Western European countries, and same applies.
Guess where a lot of that violence in England comes from? Good ol Islamic ⚠️ ↗ folk ⚠️ ↗. But you already knew that, didn't you?
It does get even worse when you add in middle income and poor countries. Eastern Europe (including the former USSR countries) has high women rights, and high violent crime rates. Latin America has high-ish women rights, and very high violent crime rates. The Middle East, South Asia, and poor East Asia all have low-ish women rights and all have low violent crime rates. The only region where it does seem to work the same correlation as Scandinavia is Sub-Saharan Africa, where low women rights coexist with high violent crime rates. Overall, the picture is that it's not significant either way how much women rights there are, to explain violent crime. That said, there probably are cultural variables to explain violent crime, as it sustains high or low across all the large cultural regions, but it just doesn't seem that women rights are one of them.
What utter crap. It was you who pointed out in a different debate that the most violent region in the world was Africa, which is also the continent with the worst human rights records (like almost no women's rights to speak of). Violence ⚠️ ↗ . . . okay? The Middle East is a big region, and parts of it have higher violence than the U.S. and parts of it lower violence than the U.S., but overall they are about the same.
