Sorry to help kill the joke, but you will notice that if you even mention terms like "karma," "spirit," etc. in the context of a joke, many atheists will have to huffily make a response explaining how rational they are and how they don't believe in any term or tenet that they associate with "mysticism" or religion, with an in-your-face, down-your-throat fervor that rivals and resembles the similar need for religious fundamentalists to brag about their "service" to God and what a "good," "God-fearing" Christian they are. Bill Maher may dislike comparisons of atheism to a religion, and I won't argue with him there in an explicit sense, but it most certainly is an ideological worldview that is every bit as emotional as any devout religious belief. I consider myself a devout Wiccan, but I don't get nearly as bent out of shape about these things emotionally as people who seem to invest their soul (yup, I will use that word; sue me!) into other belief systems (and atheism is a bona fide belief system if I've ever seen one).
