Really, they're not.

Most little girls are way more lumpy than boys, unless they're incredibly skinny to the point of being unhealthy.

Also, most little girls are curvy. This helps make more of an ornament out of the chest, I guess you could say.

By all means, a little girl's chest is almost NEVER the same as a little boy's.

It depends on their level of physical development. Very young children of either gender are pretty much identical (minus the obvious)--take away the cultural cues and you will have a hard time telling them apart.

I once conducted a test here, at BC, and at my 'straight' board DU (now ID), in which I posted a grid of pics of children's heads in which there was a mix of girls and boys with different hairstyles. There were boys and girls who looked about like the culture expects them to look, and others that possessed cues for the opposite sex. Between the three boards, the BL board fared the best overall in getting the most right. I think between GC and DU it was pretty close, but I don't remember which board had more correct. I think it was GC, actually. I do remember the person who got the most right answers: it was a young (gay) male over at DU who has no sexual interest in children. He even identified one of the children (it was Suri Cruise, by the way--griffith probably would've got that right if he'd been here at the time). But averaging all three boards put us somewhere around 50%. Considering one has a 50% chance of getting any given child's gender right, that's not a particularly impressive average.

Older children of course start to display the physical cues of their gender and would be easier to identify, but beyond that I think the difference is largely in our heads. We are (mostly) girl lovers, so we would be biased towards being aroused by their chests as opposed to boy's chests. I imagine it's pretty much the opposite for BLers.

Then of course there's the taboo making it more "riskay" and the fact that you're looking at a GIRL, not a BOY.

I think that's a component of it too. Of course, if it was merely about the taboo we would not be 'girl lovers'; we would be 'taboo-breaking lovers' if that makes sense. That's obviously not true (at least for most of us), but I think there's a part of that taboo-violating appeal in everyone, regardless of their sexual orientation. It is exciting to break the rules, isn't it?
