( Here I'm really hoping that someone will provide the counter-evidence of a culture respecting a girl's right to freely choose marriage as a child. 'Cause I haven't seen it. )
I will argue that Mormons would have arrived at that point naturally if the Federal had allowed Mormonism to take its natural course evolving by itself and within American society, instead of taking the all or nothing approach against polygamy.
Of course, that's a what-if, not an actual exhibit from an actual place, time, and culture.
