Indeed. Its a what-if, but a fascinating one. Particularly insofar as the original believers in Plural Marriage were arguably even more American than their neighbors.

They still tend to hold the Majority culture's values even moreso than the Majority; and it doesn't seem to be a case of overcompensating to accommodate, but of their own values.

Then again, anyone who would do a rewrite to place the New Testament in America, already is trying to be more American than their neighbors :)
