Taking Lot's daughters was a bit unguestfriendly as well, so I'm guessing under that interpretation, Sodom and Gomorrah would still have been toast.

The guests were the angels, not Lot and his family. So it was the angels who were the guests that must be awarded respect.

You need to understand that the guest relationship is different to other relationships. You cannot choose your family. You cannot choose your tribe or race. You cannot choose your city or nation. But you choose who are your guests, so it's double crossing to entertain a guest only to aggress upon them later. You are not forced to entertain a guest who for any reason you don't want to treat right. So you must treat right the ones who you do receive.

It's interesting, certainly, that Sodomites rejected Lot's daughters. Though I see where the plot leads by that, that is hard to understand as something relevant at all. And yet, it is that piece of information that really leads to the strictly anti-homosexual interpretation of the passage. There is no discernible reason for their rejection other than that.

And the fact that Lot's tribes ended up in the Palestinian side seems of little relevance too. That happened centuries later. God wouldn't forget it, but most people living later would not even know about it.
