I can see that you might end up accidentally nick-linking if you were going back and forth and posting similar things. Many people end up creating just one nick for their GLer identity across various boards for that reason.

OTOH, if the boards differ enough that you plan to do different things with them, and play up the differences; then its easier to create and maintain different persona for those different sides of you brought out by each forum.

If, fer example, you chose to debate at GC but not VOA. Or discuss pop-culture at VOA but not GC; then your "voice" might be determined by your post's content; and keeping the fora separated in your mind might be easier.
