Even if the rapist took the daughters, these cities where going to perish. Why else would god allow Abraham to go from 50 to 10. He didn't even bother to go with his angels. Cuteness made a valid point that you choose who your visitors are like you choose to be with God. Lot fell into temptation when he chose the plain of Jordan. He saw the beauty and riches that land offered. It didn't matter to him if Sodom was already known as a wicked place. Even though he didn't knew who these men were, he chose to protect them and willing to sacrifice his own daughters like you would do with God. By allowing Lot to flee shows that God is forgiving. Do you get a 3rd chance? Remember, when Lot's wife looked back, she turned into salt.
This is not my opinion, but I could go anti. Someone told me that the reference of all the boys and men showing up to rape these men is in reference on how God feels about child sexual abuse. If it was about homosexuality, why did they have to mention boys.
I believe the story is more about making choices than anything else. I don't like to nick pick scripture. I try to see the big picture. I'll try to help you, but I think cuteness is better qualified.
