I use Truecrypt and if someone wants to believe the reason for that is downloading child porn, terrorist manuals and stolen credit cards, it is ok with me, I have real life problems to worry about other than what people might or might not think.

The OP asked about encryption anyway, all encryption can be assumed to be used for illegal purposes, Truecrypt or any other similar tool. Luckily in my country people get arrested based on evidence and not hearsay or gossiping.
