Recently I came across a comment by a person who works for a state child protection agency who claimed that approximately 80% of the claims of child abuse they receive are false, with the intent of attacking the adult in question rather than helping a child in need.

In one sense this is a good thing, because it means that such professionals are wary of false claims. It is quite likely that your nephew's ex-girlfriend has harmed her own reputation more than your nephew's.

Of course, he should not rely on this phenomenon in future. One claim may be a fluke, but two claims are suspicious, and three claims are a pattern.
