An antivirus will not warn you if your addons are out of date, SurfPatrol will let you know if everything is up to date in just 5 seconds, I think it is a worthwhile to spend that time checking your browser vulnerabilites.

Too many people wrongly trust their antivirus to pick up everything, not necessarily, it is a good idea to run it along a good firewall too and to make sure everything is updated.
