Sadly, it certainly wouldn't stop violence against children anymore than AOC laws stop child rape. Even with mass shootings, a lot many more children are murdered by their own parents than strangers, and most often with their own hands, rather than any weapon. And you can't ban assault hands, have hands registration, or background checks before having hands
