We're only collateral damage

The War is on Children, not on us. We are only collateral damage.

We can have sex, all the sex we want, and nothing happens. Now that not even homosexuality or adultery carry any penalty in the West, we can surely say we aren't legally punished by our actions. Who cannot have even mild contact are children. They are the ones punished by actions. An adult and a child involved in contact may be both punished, but it will not be because of the actions of the adult, but the desires of the adult. The act can be the same act that wouldn't be punished with an adult - it's the inclusion of a child, implicitly, the desire for a child, which is punished. Not the act itself. That is why it's irrelevant to criminal law whether the act is or not consensual; that is why punishment includes registration and bans on work with children; and that is why, uniquely, victims of the crime are forced to undergo therapy to conform to the societal narratives demanded - we don't do this even with adult rape, much less any other crime.

Which is all why it's at least misguided to complain of the effects of AOC laws focusing on its effects on adult offenders rather than on the children labelled victims but treated like offenders too.
