Semi OT: what ever happened to normal feminists?

I mean at one point I thought the whole feminist movement was about equality?...what happened exactly to make it so some people feel as if they want men to become second class citizens? I mean there are some bat shit crazy feminists...how'd this happen exactly?

I'm all for my girls having happy equal lives...so that they have as many rights and opportunities in life as their "boy" peers...(even if I personally think my girls deserve more and better then those icky boys...)
