The NCA said 431 children "in the care, custody or control" of the suspects had been protected as a result of the arrests. Of those, 127 were said to be at immediate risk of harm.
So does that mean all 431 were taken away from their caregivers, while by their own self-serving reckoning only 127 were at immediate risk of harm? I feel like quoting from this kind of study: http://www.hawaii.edu/PCSS/biblio/articles/2005to2009/2009-pornography-acceptance-crime.html When a society gets child porn, sex crimes against kids go down. (That doesn't mean I'm in favor of child porn made with real kids, but virtual CP would probably be a good thing). But I guess if someone finds CP, then they are assumed to be guilty until proven guilty regarding their danger to kids. |
