Beyond that, what I am saying more than wanting them at a particular number is that I don't want to fight about them with society at large. If some bipartisan group proposes age 14 if there is parental consent, I wouldn't object, for instance. But I'm an incremental change sort of guy.

5,000 years of human history starts with 4,900 years of misery. We don't want to marry girls off at 13 any more but want to let them get an education and have more input into their own future. We don't want them forced into prostitution at 13 because they're starving. I'd be interested in the number of relatively well-off 13-year-old girls who were happy pursuing temporary sexual affairs with older men in earlier times.
