I wrote these poems some time ago - maybe 8, 9, or 10 years ago?

Anyway, I think I've reposted them once before, but it has been several years, so I'll dust these off and repost them again. They are all set to music, but I don't know how to write that music down - so you will just have to provide the music for yourselves. As always, you can consider my writing to be public domain or CC-BY, whichever is most useful to you.

For the Forgotten

Through the darkness so vast, that's enshrouded our home
Through famines and wars where they met death alone
In towns that are lost and encampments effaced
And in cities of stone that have now gone to waste -

For a moment in time that can never be traced,
Just a flash in the pan, but it can't be erased!
They lived and they loved, they lived and they loved,
they lived and they loved, yes, they lived and they loved!

They were rich, they were poor, they were well, they were ill,
They were great, they were small, they persisted by will -
And with all of their fears, and with all of their flaws,
They shed blood, they shed tears, for a good or bad cause -
They were loved and despised, they were foolish and wise,
They were trampelled and scorned, but they still sought to rise -

and

For a moment in time that can never be traced,
Just a flash in the pan, but it can't be erased!
They lived and they loved, they lived and they loved,
they lived and they loved, yes, they lived and they loved!

Though our love is denied by the false priests of Hate,
Though our lives are destroyed by a power-mad State -
Through the darkness so long, through the nights that we cry,
Through our hopes unfulfilled, till the day that we die -

Land Without Love

I needed bread and they gave me a stone,
I needed meat and they gave me a bone,
I needed fish and they gave me a snake,
I needed healing and they gave me an ache -
I needed kindness, all I got was a shove -
Looks like I'm lost in a land without love,
Looks like I'm lost in a land without love.

But I will find a way away,
Yeah I will find a way away one day,
I will set to sea to see,
I will see if there's a land of love for me,
A land for me,
I will see if there's a land of love for me.

I needed wisdom and I found none are wise,
I needed truth and I found only lies,
I needed saints but only scoundrels I found
I needed heroes, they are all in the ground -
I needed help, but all I got was a shove,
Looks like I'm lost in a land without love,

But we will find a way away,

Where Is Your Light, O Land Of Liberty?

Where is your Light, O Land of Liberty?
Darkening skies demand its discovery -
Now is the nonce of my necessity -
Lift your lamp and let me see
Where the way is I can be
Free!

(I) Don't give a damn about Democracy
That's just a tool for theft and tyranny
If ya don't mob with the majority
What I need is Liberty
Why can't you just let me be
Free?

I'm free to think the things that you want thought
I'm free to buy the bullshit you want bought
I'm free to fight the foe that you want fought
That ain't free if you ask me
Why can't you just let me be
Free?
