"I was thinking how women would feel if adult rape was a mandated reporting offense. I think they would feel very disempowered."

Even moreso if "rape" was decided for them.

Was I used by the young woman who took my virginity? Yes.

Had I known that it was going to be a one night stand would I have done it? Maybe. But maybe not.

How would I feel if telling this story automatically creates a rape charge against her and compels me to testify against her on contempt of court? Raped by the system.

Look at the women involved in the Assange case. He was an *sshole and didn't use protection. They asked him to take an STD test. He refused. They thought it was their right to ask the law to compel him to do the right thing. The law decided for them that what they want isn't what they SHOULD want; that they SHOULD want to charge him for a rape they didn't say happened.

And now these women with a reasonable request from the law feel used and regret even asking for what was reasonable.

The law rarely treats adult sex as Statutory Rape. But when it does the "victims" are appropriately outraged and see the Law as the enemy. Why is it so hard for adults to wrap their heads around the notion that children would feel the same way?
