It's not so much what they do as what they represent: the fact that pedophiles exist who both agree with the cultural mores and abide by them. Is it ideal? No, but it's important that society sees that pedophiles are just as diverse as they are, and more importantly, that we aren't all so far removed from their perspective that they can't relate. I'm not saying that we should all be like Virped, but I think the fact that there are MAPs out there that most parents agree with when it comes to ideas about their kids and sex is going to be an important in-road to our acceptance as an identity. It starts with groups like Virped and B4U-ACT--an essential first step, I believe--and progresses from there.
