Christians say we need to follow the narrow path of Christ to get saved from eternity in Hell

Eternal Hell is an innovation, and is unsupported by the Bible or by the writings of early Christians.

like Eve learning the difference between good and evil. How is this supposed to be a bad thing anyway?

The sin is not in knowing good and evil; it's in disobeying God.

Moreover, that knowledge of good and evil depends on a fruit, and follows a consensus both with the Devil and among Adam and Eve, strongly hints that the knowledge of good and evil refers to societal mores, rather than any God supported or God ordained good and evil; as any theological good and evil would have to precede any fruit and not be contingent on the consumption of a fruit or on consensus among mortals.

Further the whole story as a narrative fits all too well the distinct processes by which children are socialized. It becomes hard to me not to interpret it in psychologist terms as an allegory about early childhood rather than as something truly supposed to be historical. It's the realization that free will is something to handle with care and that its usage has bad consequences, sometimes, as well as good at other times.

Isn't it fucked up that God would require human sacrifice?

And the sacrifice and its necessity and character are one of the most contentious issues in Christian theology. Since the beginning and up to date.
