The notion that sex is limited to certain acts in certain locations at certain times of day seems so ingrained in the Anti attitude that they can't remotely see that its a false dichotomy.

The very young child is polymorphously perverse and has to be taught by the Antis that its not OK to masturbate in public just because it feels good.

I remember reading in a "Feminist Bible" of the early 70s ( in a section on body shame ) about a mum whose toddler daughter found a cardboard toilet-paper tube to pee into because she wanted to see it come out the other end of her "penis." Grandad tried to shame the little one over her experiment. But mum wanted to ensure that there was no shame, just a more stain resistant surface the next time.

And maybe its not societal shame but some biological urge to pair-bond that leads the tween to retreat from a diffuse affection towards many and begin intense desire for a single person.
