Nonsense. To suggest that someone who loves a child is incapable of willfully harming them is to misunderstands the capacity for the human mind to twist itself into knots in order to quell cognitive dissonance. Have you seen the documentary I Escaped a Cult (if you haven't, you can see it here? It deals with two cults in particular, the Warren Jefferies LFDS cult and the Aggressive Christian Ministry. Two women from the latter (a mother and daughter) both discuss who they were taught to beat their children, and they did so out of a belief that they had to assure their and their children's places in heaven. Likewise, many sexual abusers arrive at the same 'it was for her own good' mentality in order to convince themselves that what they are doing is okay.
