I respectfully submit that you're way out of your depth here.

On political grounds? Maybe - though I've always been the "fuck it" kind of guy.

On grounds of nonrepresentational sampling? Not quite.

Right. And the political climate has changed so that that kind of study cannot be done any more.

...and there you go. "Wrong conclusions" is not a concept which has place in scientific inquiry.

Meanwhile - formally - the US is the only place which has no-trial concentration camps, and even there, 'mandatory reporting' does not intrinsically cover status.

So, at least in theory, assembling random people and hooking them up to a peter-meter while watching reruns of "full house" is perfectly viable. The only concern is ensuring the seperate tests are double-blind.

The only risk is that the US congress will censure you for finding "wrong" facts... and that doesn't neccesarily mean shit.

I, otoh, am the sort of person who would be prone to change the political climate. Fear to do a legitimate study does not make an illegitimate counterfit with the "right" conclusions accurate or legitimate, however.

I suggest penis-wiring your undergrads. Even though that itself is a semi-suspect population. ;)
