Loving to hate

"For some people, feelings of self-righteousness or rage can be just as emotionally satisfying as feelings of love or contentment in others - and naturally they seek to repeat the experiences that made them feel good before. "

I definitely see that.

There are crusader types who are more against something they hate than for anything they love. They exist on all sides.

But there was once a time when GC was almost nothing but links to news articles about raped or dead children. The sensitive posters fled to other pastures, while those posting link after link got to thump their chests, declare themselves better, and talk about what they would do if they caught the perp.

Its hard to see the GL in the effort to seek out dead children on the internet.

Thus Eeyore leveled his challenge to find positive news about girls amidst all the carnage. For those of us with the stomach, you can wade through an ocean of gore to find the occasional bit where LGs are being celebrated, and where what we love matters more than what we hate.

Or, alternately you could put down the paper, walk out your door, remark at the lack of blood on the streets and note just how effectively fear-based reporting reflects reality. ( And you might even spot a girl or two. )
