A reply! Fooled you...

Go to any Islamophobic site and you will certainly find a number of newsclips.

I thought that might be what people were thinking of.

For all your accusations of hypocrisy to the pro-contact side

I don't think I've used that word hypocrisy (have I?). I'm willing to believe that most pro-contact pedophiles aren't lying or devious. But I think that when presented with differing opinions about adult-child sex, the pro-contact view is going to seem more appealing and gather more adherents because of self-interest.

To admit consent, you ask for a standard of information about the future that is impossible to meet. You know well that children cannot meet it; but you know that adults can't meet it either. You demand of children a standard of foreknowledge that you don't demand of yourself.

I don't know as I have weighed in on how much information I think someone should have, and how much (on average) they will have by an age of consent. I don't prefer to frame it in terms of "informed" meaning information conveyed. I think more in terms of average emotional maturity, and an overall average increase in how relationships work among people, an increased ability to detect insincerity, etc.

But weighing more heavily in my thoughts these days is how abstaining from sex past a certain age (like 16 or 18) has a very high cost, as it's part of what makes life worth living. Abstaining before age 16 (and abstaining only with adult partners) is much less costly.

You have been told countless times that cars and swimming pools are far more dangerous activities for children than sex is. So again, if more and less danger will constitute a criterion for deciding allowing an activity or not, then cars and swimming pools will be banned before sex.

I have also replied countless times that it is up to parents to make decisions about cars and swimming pools, and the benefits of cars and swimming pools are also widely thought to be much higher than the benefits of sex for kids (specifically sex with adults).
