...to the market today. Got on the bus, and this AG who had been waiting at the same stop with her mom (who was irate, screaming at somebody across the street) walked up to me, smiled, complimented something or other about my outfit or appearance -- the kinds of things I generally do, too, when I want to flirt with a fallback if it's not well received. I'd guess she was 12 or 13, and I was polite back to her, engaged in a bit of conversation.

She climbed up into the empty seat next to me -- two seats to an aisle, and very small, so she was right beside me. She then pulls a book out of her bag and shows me: how to make Rainbow Loom bracelets. As she starts flipping through the pages, she announces that she's "going to make these and sell them all over town!"

I giggled a bit, thinking of rainbowloom and wishing I could get on GC right then and see how he's doing... I wanted to engage more with this girl, but I wasn't sure how touchy her mom would be (mom had already been barking at her girl as well as screaming at other people, and I didn't want to risk that wrath directed at me) so I went back to the message I had been composing on my phone.

The girl got up as suddenly as she had sat down and went to sit by her mom at the other end of the bus...

I did make a point of looking her way and smiling as I got off the bus, even took a moment to wave goodbye, but I don't think she saw me from inside when I was all the way down on the ground.

It was an unexpected beautiful moment in an otherwise already fantastic day, and reminded me, too, that I haven't checked in here in a little while!
