I can't see Apple using this in the marketing material.
iPhone 6, the phone of choice for pedophiles. Of course it's total nonsense, its quite sad that agencies and politicians have so little respect for society that they think they can say such blanket statements and have people believe them. We live in a world where everyone's online and kids are all tech savvy and yet authorities still think they can talk to people in such patronising ways. The vast majority of users of iPhone will use the iCloud which backs up your data using keys held by Apple rather than your pass code so the feds can still just get the data through the correct legal channels. If you've turned off the iCloud then most will still be using 4 digit pass codes which aren't super difficult to guess so a brute force attack should unlock the phone if they really need to. So the only people who are really locking out the feds are those hard core few who turn off the iCloud and use some strong pass code but frankly that hard core few won't be using iPhones anyway, they'll be professional criminals using different phones and technologies to do their dirty work. Society is getting more tech savvy and will have worked this out already but the feds still think they can say "if we can't hack your devices then the bogey man will come and destroy the country" and expect people to believe it. |
