Crime ? What crime ? That photographer was quite within his rights to take candid shots in a public place. I, for one, would have refused to delete any images in my camera. Even a police officer cannot demand that. There is, and can be, no expectations of privacy in a public place. Had the photographer requested posed shots, then a model release form should be signed by the subject. Or by a parent or guardian if the subject is a child. I always carry such forms in my camera bag, just in case. Candid shots require no such permission.
I have photographed at several face painting events, and entered some shots into competitions. Too many rights have already been eroded because of irrational paranoia; we don't want to lose any more freedoms. W. |
