This 2-and-a-half minute video that is also up on Gilbert O'Sullivan's YouTube fan channel features an audio interview with O'Sullivan, as well as a video interview with Clair Mills, who speaks fondly of that time. She is still quite beautiful, too (she never stopped being beautiful, it seems). I never knew she had a British accent! We also get a brief written message at the end which rightfully admonishes the many idiots of the modern age who read "sinister" connotations in such a wonderful video and song. You didn't have to worry about this type of nonsense back in 1972, and it's a shame that O'Sullivan and Clair felt the need to defend themselves like that in the first place. A question I've always wondered about was also answered in the interview with Clair: That was indeed the real Clair giggling at the end of the song! She was sitting on her mom's lap in the studio at the time the giggle was recorded. And the way her mom got her to giggle, considering she was pretty bored in the studio, is really cute. |
