There is a time for everything.
When you are young (20's-30's) you may be pleased and content with the sweetness of life. You personal pleasures are enough. When you get older you get increasingly fed up with the lies of life. Then it's time to become an activist. If you have children, they are only vulnerable when they are young, and that's a rather short period of their life. After that there are no excuses. Friends? Family? What are they worth if they want to live with a lie? There are drawbacks to coming out, of course. It helps to live in a non-English-speaking county. But the drawbacks can be used to your advantage. The public loves martyrs. But whether you come out or not (which I would never recommend because I do not want to have that responsibility), do not try to make activists immoral by implicitly labeling them selfish. That's a very bad excuse. -Tallguy |
