As Dissident notes, B4U-Act has accomplished quite a bit, and quite notably Paul Christiano has given several excellent interviews. Even GirlChat has played a role in facilitating communication between relevant parties including researchers.

I also don't see much "screaming" going on. Whispers are often more effective. I have seen some of the ideas generated here propagated widely, and I refrain from saying where only because I do not want to give those who persecute us any ammunition. Suffice it to say that GirlChat is quite influential.

Anonymity might allow us to be "extreme", but it also allows us to state the truth without having to fear the consequences - two ways of looking at the same phenomenon.

All that said, I am glad Virped is out there even though much of what it says is wrong. If they can get people to see us as humans rather than the indefinable "other", that is a huge first step. I do not think that Virpeds is as useful as B4U-Act or even GirlChat, but they will reach an audience that more reasonable advocates cannot - and that is worth doing. There is a maxim that applies here: Don't let the perfect become the enemy of the good.
