Doctors who carry out designer vagina cosmetic surgery have been warned by Theresa May that they could be committing a criminal offence.
The Home Secretary said some of the operations are illegal unless there is a physical or mental health justification. Her report to Parliament also warned that prosecutions could take place even if the woman had given her consent to the surgery and that courts could be asked to rule whether purely cosmetic surgery is a crime in the same way as female genital mutilation. Mrs Mays comments were a response to a home affairs select committee report on FGM in which the MPs called on the Government to consider introducing a ban on cosmetic genital surgery on girls aged under 18. Such operations which include procedures to reduce the size of the labia, tighten the vagina and increase the size of the g-spot have become increasingly common in recent years...
