In reply to Florida law def. of sexual battery - wtf? posted by SierraWhiskey on Friday, December 12 2014 at 5:45:29PM

Battery is touching. Its that simple and always has been.

I'm not sure where you got the notion that it had to be injurious touching.

In the phrase "assault and battery" assault is the threat, and battery is the touch.

It can be as simple as any unwanted deliberate contact. Ferinstance in the now famous viral toddler video the "you poked my heart" bit constitutes battery.

But more to the point of sexual battery, it can be as simple as a case I know of where a video producer's arm grazed an assistant's breasts while he was reaching over her shoulder to demonstrate a tutorial at an editing desk.

The thing hinged on his pattern of behaviour and intent to see if it was accidental, or if he was trying to cop a feel. The latter form of touch IS sexual battery.

Its not Florida, its the law of the land.
