I don't remember it being a terrible book, but nor do I remember it being awesome. And it didn't really explore the concept of a man's consciousness in an adolescent girl's body as much as I would've liked. But if you want to read some great sci-fi novels with more MAP appeal, try The Diamond Age by Neal Stephenson, Psychohistorical Crisis by Donald Kingsbury (a familiarity with Asimov's Foundation series is recommended before delving into this one, but a certain character in it is a GLer with a 12-year-old lover, and there is a little girl character who makes an appearance who any GLer would love--but don't read it just for that stuff, because they are minor subplots in the book) and especially the third book in Dan Simmons' Hyperion Cantos, but really you should read the entire series because it's all fantastic. There is a good deal of pedophilia in Elizabeth Hand's novel Winterlong, which is about a post-apocalyptic economy based on child prostitution, but I warn you: it is unrelentingly dark--be prepared to have your heart broken.
