"I am not recalling this. People on Sexnet criticizing VP -- except for the ones who are primarily associated with B4U-ACT or Heretic TOC? Can you refresh my memory?"

You can look it up yourself. Though I can't see for the life of me how membership in B4UACT or any other group casts aspersions on arguments over the inability to evaluate anecdotal evidence within a survey population. When the onlookers are scientific researchers who are nons it really doesn't matter who points out the flaw that is noticed by those present.

"VP's charter is that adult-child sexual activity is wrong. This comforts us, and it comforts the broader public to see a large group of pedophiles defining themselves in this way."

.......

"For those who seek some peace in the world as it really exists, avoiding such discussions may be a good choice. If you agree, you might try out VP."

Sounds like a nice religion. Those poor agnostics and atheists have no such comforting myths.

But I don't believe in the God of the gaps. We don't have to fill in areas we don't comprehend yet with comforting beliefs about us being right and others being wrong. The seeds of knowledge are planted in agnosticism and leave a space that might later be filled by fact rather than committing to a stance which we know has no scientific merit; regardless of how "at peace" we feel.

To me this seems very cynical and self-serving. And not dissimilar from your arguments which argue that if full sexual empowerment for girls leaves Pedos frustrated........

Its not entirely about what comforts some of us when we are claiming that something is wrong and supporting those who would keep prosecuting and persecuting on the basis that they too believe it is wrong ( despite what the science says. )

To me "political pragmatism" doesn't trump matters of truth and justice. Sure it isn't pleasant to champion challenges to popular myths. But the social revolutions that have occurred since my birth give me both some hope, and the knowledge that you pander too much to a public you believe to be as unwilling to cede ground as you are. The last half century tells me otherwise.

Making peace with the world as it is has never produced change for the better.
