night of the 4th and we were in an area where it is legal to set off some
of your own safer fireworks. (All kinds are completely illegal where I
come from!) So we had gone to a fireworks stand that afternoon and wasted
countless dollars on 5 or 10 second thrills. So it was dark when
we got back and the kids started to light their sparklers and smoke bombs
and whistlers and fire belching candles. Meanwhile, a little girl, about
10, next door was lighting hers all alone. I drifted from the crowd and
watched her, as she silently would light each one and watch. Every now
and then, her mom would open the front door and see how she was doing
out on the sidewalk. The beautiful girl smiled at me and asked me if I
would like some of her fireworks to light. I told her thanks, but I
wanted her to enjoy them all and I would just watch. But then her barbecue
lighter ran out of flame and she was out of action. I rushed over to my
families group and ripped off one of the lighters, and returned to the
girl. She was so pretty. It was slightly chilly out so she had on a
long shirt and pants, but I could tell she was perfectly shaped in every way. She seemed to be of Mexican or Latino descent. I helped her light
the rest and the family was wondering why I had abandoned them to play
with her. They drifted over to near the girls house and kind of joined
in the fun. But then the girl ran out of fireworks, and before I could
even ask her her name, she disappeared. I was going to give her some
of our families remaining ones to light. But she was gone, never to be
seen again. One more girl I fell in love with for a few minutes, but
never to be forgotten. She smiled so nice to me.
