Now, that is called innocence. As long as they were treated in a normal fashion by those in the store, the kids had no concerns about modesty. I think these people are probably very good parents. They haven't taken the time to teach their kids false modesty and they don't inhibit their making of new friends. Imagine if all kids were allowed to go out in whatever stage of dress (or undress) that made them happy?

I remember a hot summer day several years ago, when a friend of mine and his wife came to visit. The brought their daughter who was 5 at the time. She, like the girls in the grocery store, was wearing only her underpants and couldn't care less. Unfortunately, a neighbor of mine happened by and was shocked. In a flash of only a few seconds, the little girl went from feeling perfectly normal and comfortable, to being self conscious and inhibited about her state of (un)dress. Hot as it was, she asked her Mom if she could find her t-shirt and pants. This is another example of how adult reactions affect the feelings of children. This is how quickly a child can learn body shame.
