BMWs as well

My dad is a BMW technician. He's told us many times that they use this data in the shop when someone brings their car in for service. Let's say that the engine blew up and the driver claims no fault and want the car fixed under the warranty. Well, the BMW techs look at this information to see the condidtions under which the engine exploded. If the driver was doing something bad (like driving 120mph) at the time, the warranty will not cover it.

There are many other examples of this, but I know that BMW has used this system for a long time.
