This past weekend, I took my dog to a local dog park, a fenced in area where dogs can safely (and legally) run around off-leash. I hadn't been to this one before, and it took awhile to find it amongst all the trails in this park. It wasn't crowded when we got there, and we walked into the middle of the fenced area. Within a minute or two, a girl about 9 came over and asked me all about my dog, told me all about her dog, and told me all about the park. Then she started throwing a ball for my dog to retrieve. She stayed with me for about 10 minutes, then went back over to sit with her mother.

She, her mother, and her dog left the park about 5 minutes before we did. As I mentioned earlier, there are several trails, and apparently the one we took was shorter than the one they took. When we came out to one trail, they were walking toward us, and going in the same dirrection we were going. We (my dog and I) let them catch up. We walked together back to the parking lot, and I also got to talk to the mother. An enjoyable afternoon for me and my dog. It is very refreshing to come across an lg who is confident enough to welcome a stranger (me), and a mother who is willing to allow her daughter to do that. Granted, it was a very safe environment, but there is a lot of paranoia in the world.
