To clarify a few things...

The dad is a friend of mine and we have known each other for several years now. I hope this counts for something.
I could try and get the letter to her in secret, in other ways than through the post. That way chance of the parents seeing the letter are reduced.
I'll add a complaint about sexual discrimination to the letter and argue the point forcefully should it come to my scouting going on the line.
I will also remove the "much love" as Minstrel suggested, though every part of me aches to tell her those words so much. :(
I know its not wise but I'm beginning to think that my head isn't strong enough to combat my heart on this issue.
I'm doomed!
