LG Quote

OK, I really need help with this quote, it's been giving me a hard time for too long. It was said by a LG I know, somewhere in sep-oct 2001, when she was 11, almost 12. I remember that it was very soon after I met her, but really not sure when. It was evening, we were walking down the street, talking about misc stuff, and she suddenly said:
"You know, when I was younger I gave my love to everyone, but nobody responded to it, so I forgot how to love."
It is a translation from Serbian (as accurate as I can make it). Anyway, I asked her immediately what did she mean by that, but she didn't reply, but just continued to talk about other stuff. The quote remained in my memory, and I still can't be sure about what she meant. If anyone knows if it's from some book, or movie, or anything that could help me, I would appreciate it.
Sorry if this seems like a stupid question, but I really need to know what y'all think.
