In a more general way, given that the basis for attraction is the
youthful characteristics of the friend, how can there be any thought
of a long term relationship based on that attraction?

Hence if there were a society which permitted such relationships,
then they would necessarily be limited in time, and perhaps more
like a series of mentorships, than 'for ever after'.

What is more, in this mythical society, it could be conceived that
these mentorships do not affect other relationships with say a
wife or husband. Hence, it would not be 'cheating', but seen as
part of the individual's contribution to the social system.

This of course is all 'myth', but there are classical european examples
of such relationships, and I don't expect any return to such classicism
any time soon.
