I see NFiH has already answered, but thought I'd add my bit:

the characters " > " and " < " are touchy - I usually use the latter and the former around a G to signify "Grin" - a holdover from common IRC lingo - won't work on here - I usually forget and do it about once a day.

Don't know if it will work here - let me "Preview" and see. . . . It didn't - I had to add a space before and after each character to distance them from the quotation marks - so I'd gather that the HTML system interprets what immediately follows a < or what immediately preceds a > as being HTML code. By that logic, I should be able to "grin" like this < G > - we'll see if it works!
